Successful "Social Days

Inspired by Clean-Up Day, a worldwide day of action to clean up the environment, students from Class 10g of our Gymnasium and Class 9b of our Oberschule took a commendable initiative during the last days of school before the summer vacations to rid the Würschnitz River here in Niederwürschnitz of litter and pollution.

With zeal and determination, they worked together to protect their natural resources and set an impressive example of environmental awareness and civic engagement. In cooperation with the municipality of Niederwürschnitz, which provided trailers, buckets and wheelbarrows for the cleaning of the creek, various trash as well as large branches and bricks were cleared away. But also a hubcap, a pair of garden shears, various bottles and glass splinters as well as some metal and old, destroyed sandbags were found in the Würschnitz. In addition to this clean-up action, more of these "Social Days" are to follow as part of our Fit-for-Life concept in order to expand the students' sense of responsibility for the environment, among other things, with their commitment.
