The fifth edition of the competition is part of the program of the International Year of Caves and Karst (IYCK), under the motto "Explore, Understand and Protect". The competition is held in partnership with 56 member countries and over 230 institutions and organizations around the world.

Our participants created and presented many multimedia presentations, posters, comics and works with natural materials. The students had to choose a karst site from all over Germany, e.g. the Franconian Alb, the border of the Thuringian Forest or the Stubnitzer Horst on the island of Rügen.

Learners could choose from the following categories to create a product in English for the karst area they had already selected: Ages 12 and under - drawing or working with natural materials or multimedia presentation or video; ages 12 and over - drawing or working with natural materials; multimedia presentation or video; creating a computer game or website; designing an essay, poster, or comic.
